Emma Amaofo Shortlisted as a finalist for the 2015 Black British Business Awards

2015 Future of Ghana pioneer Emma Amaofo year just keeps getting better! After being selected as top 30 u30 Ghanaian pioneer for our maiden publication. She also completed her Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) with a distinction in medical science and an intercalated BSc in Management. This qualified her to start working as a junior doctor from August this year


Now to cap that all off she has now been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2015 Black British Business Awards in the Consumer and Retail sub-category under the Financial services category. The nomination came about due to her work with her fashion brand Friday Born Designs.

Friday Born Designs– pay homage to the motherland by using ‘African fabrics disguised in a British silhouette’ while simultaneously supporting the community back home in Ghana with all the proceeds from their sales going to charity.


Emma recently travelled to Ghana to make a donation of the proceeds of Friday Born Designs to to Bless the Child International Home Orphanage in Kwahu and she hope’s to release a new collection before the end of the year.

We wish Emma the best of luck at the Awards Luncheon on the 20 October 2015 when the winners will be revealed

Future of Ghana Pioneer Lorraine Wright Brings UGCY to Ghana!

2015 Future of Ghana pioneer and founder of University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY),  Lorraine Wright and her team will be bringing the event to Ghana for the first time.
Following the success of University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) in the UK, we are pleased to announce that UGCY will be launching in Ghana on October 2nd with the finals taking place in March 2016.
University Gospel Choir of the Year, UGCY, is an unprecedented platform for University Gospel Choirs across the nation to showcase and develop their musical talents on a national scale. In the UK, winners have
had the opportunity to perform on grand platforms such as UK’s The X Factor and the Britain’s Got Talent competitions (See the UK website– for more information).
 In a quest to unearth global talents, LW productions, organizers of UGCY UK have teamed up with Africa’s
Premiere Quality Christian Entertainment Company, GospelTown Africa, to spearhead the maiden edition of
UGCY-Africa starting from Ghana.
UGCY Ghana is designed as a reality TV show which will be aired on local TV channel, Viasat 1 TV within a
period of 4-6 weeks. The footage will show the various process of the competition right from the Auditions to
the Finale held at the National Theatre, Accra in March 2016.
The program will be hosted by two well-known faces and the prospective choirs will be judged by four high
profile and musically inclined individuals in Ghana and the diaspora.
UGCY Ghana will officially be launched at the World Trade Centre on October 2nd 2015. Subsequently, all universities across the country will be given the opportunity to partake in the first edition of UGCY- Ghana by entering their details from October 2015 via the website.
Below are some important dates on the calendar of UGCY-GH to note:
  • October 2nd 2015–Launch and Opening for Entries
  • November 2015 –Deadline for Submission
  • December 2015 – Shortlist Announced
  • February 2016 –Boot camp Audition
  •  March 2016 – Finale
Significant preparations that will see the success of UGCY Ghana are underway and everything required to
be communicated to the public will be done so in due time.
